Safety Specialist

Nguyen Nhat Khoa was born and raised in Quang Ninh, a small, sunlit district of Quang Binh Province. His journey with Phong Nha began during his final university year, after which he returned to work with a tour operator specializing in ecological conservation. Later, Khoa joined Oxalis Adventure in 2016, initially as a tour guide. After more than 7 years of experience and recognizing the importance of safety in adventure tourism, Khoa decided to apply and undergo training to become a Safety Specialist at Oxalis.

During his time as a guide at Oxalis, Khoa achieved many notable accomplishments. He completed various tourism training programs and holds an international tour guide license. He also received training from British cave experts on safety, rescue, geology, and geomorphology to international standards, becoming a member of the BCA and BCRA associations. This gave him a solid technical foundation and deep knowledge of the areas he operates in. Notably, Khoa was one of two guides who led the BBC film crew in their documentary project Planet Earth III in Son Doong Cave in 2022.

As a tour guide, Khoa was known for his disciplined approach, always prioritizing the safety of his guests. Touring with Khoa, guests experience his enthusiasm and sense of humor. Many who have traveled with him have praised his dedicated support and extensive knowledge.

In his role as a Safety Specialist, Khoa participates in Son Doong expeditions and many other adventure tours organized by Oxalis. His daily responsibilities include ensuring the safety of customers and staff, as well as closely monitoring all safety protocols throughout each trip. Khoa places the highest importance on safety, strictly adhering to established guidelines. With his expertise, he carefully guides and supervises the team and guests in performing techniques safely. Khoa is also responsible for assessing and overseeing other expedition tours to ensure all journeys are safe and meet standards.

Khoa graduated from Quang Binh University with a major in English Linguistics. This background enables him to communicate confidently and clearly with international guests. His strong language skills also assist him in overseeing safety, ensuring all procedures are understood and executed properly by every team member.

Outside of work, Khoa enjoys adventurous activities such as mountain climbing, sightseeing, and exploring local culture. He has completed multiple trekking trips to the northern mountainous regions of Vietnam. Additionally, he has had the opportunity to participate in cave surveys in Thai Nguyen with British cave experts. These experiences allow him to discover unique locations and gain knowledge from new and exciting adventures.
