The park covers more than 123,000 hectares of limestone mountains and forests, hiding over 450 caves, even though only 30% of the park has been explored. Many secrets await you in this mysterious land.

    The highlights include:

  • Immersive 9D historical simulation at Commander Cave: Drive a legendary Zil-130 truck on the Truong Son Trail in a multi-sensory 9D (VR 360) experience inside the 7-level command bunker. Witness the strategic history of the war effort, covering logistics, communication, and combat command, all within the authentic setting of Commander Cave.
  • Explore the pristine Nuoc Nut Cave: Journey like a true explorer into this beautiful, lesser-known cave, part of the same system as the famous Son Doong. Discover its mysterious natural beauty, featuring a large dome, vibrant multi-colored stalactites, and long sandy beaches.
  • Swim in emerald waters and discover the underground river: Enjoy a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear, emerald-green lake found inside Nuoc Nut Cave. Conclude your exploration by admiring the mesmerizing sight of the sparkling underground river that flows through the cave's interior.

Important Note: Due to the remote and adventurous nature of our tours, we recommend booking directly with Oxalis to ensure you receive accurate and comprehensive information. Many websites claim to feature and sell Oxalis tours, but they may be scams or have marked-up prices. Oxalis will not be responsible for any bookings made through such sites.

Morning

Please arrive in Phong Nha before 07:00 AM on the tour day to ensure a timely departure. Oxalis offers free dorm rooms with 6 comfortable beds at Oxalis Home (Oxalis’s office) for those who want to rest a bit before the tour. (Please let us know in advance if you need this service).

From 7:00 to 7:30 a.m., the vehicle and tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Phong Nha and transfer you to the Oxalis Adventure office. Here, you will receive a safety briefing, safety instructions, and an introduction to the tour itinerary.

To start off a day full of exciting activities, you will visit Commander Cave, a place that bears the footsteps of young soldiers and the memories of youth left behind in the Truong Son mountains amid the smoke and fire of war. Once a natural limestone cave, it was transformed by army engineers into a solid military base with seven distinct functional levels, closely tied to key strategic decisions along the Truong Son supply line. Today, visitors can explore each level of the cave, witness wartime relics, and relive the battlefield atmosphere through an immersive VR360 (9D) virtual reality experience.

After this meaningful visit to Commander Cave, the group continues by vehicle to the starting point of the trek to Nuoc Nut Cave. Following a short walk through dense forest and along easy trails, you will arrive at the cave entrance and have lunch here. Apart from a few shafts of natural light filtering through the ceiling, most of Nuoc Nut Cave remains shrouded in darkness.

Afternoon

Beginning the exploration of Nuoc Nut Cave, visitors will be equipped with helmets and headlamps to move safely inside. You’ll be amazed by the varied shapes of the stalactites, the long stretches of sandy banks, and the crystal-clear pools. There’s also the rare opportunity to swim in an underground river, an extraordinary experience few have ever tried.

The group then starts the journey back, leaving behind the stalactite formations and the darkness of the majestic cave to welcome sunlight streaming through the forest canopy. At the Ho Chi Minh Road (western branch), the Oxalis bus will be waiting with chilled drinks and medals to mark a meaningful and challenging adventure. The tour concludes around 5:00 p.m. The Oxalis guide and driver will take you back to your hotel in Phong Nha.
