Over more than 15 years of development, Oxalis Adventure has worked alongside media organizations, broadcasters, film production companies, photographers, and international partners in exploring and sharing the natural, historical, and cultural values of Vietnam.

From Son Doong Cave and Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park to emerging destinations in Quang Tri and Cat Tien, stories of people, nature, and conservation efforts have been introduced to millions of audiences worldwide through documentaries, television programs, articles, and international media campaigns.

Below are some of the most notable media projects, international collaborations, and milestones that have helped bring Vietnam’s image closer to global audiences.

International television and documentary projects

International television networks and documentary filmmakers have helped share the stories of Son Doong Cave, Hang En Cave, Hang Va Cave, and the cave systems of Phong Nha with audiences around the world. Behind each production was extensive planning, from logistics and safety management to equipment transportation and on-site operations. Drawing on our experience in organizing cave expeditions, we have worked alongside international production teams to help bring authentic stories of Vietnam’s natural wonders to the screen.

ABC News - Good Morning America (2015)

In 2015, ABC News broadcast live from Son Doong Cave and Hang En Cave as part of its acclaimed morning program Good Morning America. The immense scale, untouched beauty, and mysterious atmosphere of these caves were introduced to millions of viewers across the United States and beyond, marking one of the first major international media milestones for Son Doong. The broadcast attracted approximately 6 million live viewers and generated more than 27 million online views, drawing significant global attention and widespread positive reactions from audiences worldwide. National Geographic - Son Doong 360° (2016)

In 2016, Oxalis partnered with National Geographic on the Son Doong 360° project and the feature story Journey Through the Largest Cave in the World. To support the production, we managed the entire logistics operation, including mobilizing our porter team to transport 220 kilograms of specialized equipment deep inside the cave. A team of 7 photographers captured a collection of remarkable 360-degree images, allowing audiences to explore the world's largest cave through an immersive digital experience. The project played an important role in introducing Son Doong to a global audience through innovative visual storytelling. In 2020, British newspaper The Guardian included Son Doong among the world's top ten virtual tours, recognizing it as one of the most remarkable natural experiences that could be explored remotely through computers and smartphones. Animal Planet (2018)

In 2018, Animal Planet, part of the Warner Bros. Discovery network, produced an in-depth documentary inside Son Doong Cave. The program offered audiences around the world a rare look at the cave’s ecosystem, geological formations, and extraordinary scale as the largest cave on Earth. Through stunning cinematography and immersive storytelling, the documentary revealed the natural wonders hidden beneath the forests of Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park. As of May 2026, the feature had attracted more than 855,000 views across distribution platforms, continuing to inspire travelers, explorers, and nature enthusiasts worldwide. Read more

tvN Joy - South Korea (2022)

In 2022, South Korean television channel tvN Joy filmed a special program at Hang En Cave and Son Doong Cave featuring Coach Park Hang-seo alongside well-known Korean celebrities Ahn Jung-hwan, Kim Nam-il, Choo Sung-hoon, and Kim Dong-jun. The program introduced the beauty of Vietnam’s cave systems to Korean audiences through the experiences of some of South Korea’s most recognizable public figures. Coach Park Hang-seo, who led Vietnam’s national football team from 2017 to 2022, was widely admired in Vietnam for guiding the team to several historic achievements during his tenure.

BBC - Planet Earth III (2023)

In 2023, the BBC selected Son Doong Cave, Hang En Cave, and Hang Va Cave as filming locations for Extremes, an episode of Planet Earth III - one of the world's most respected natural history documentary series. The production team consisted of six members led by producer Theo Webb and brought more than 1 ton of filming equipment from the United Kingdom and the United States to Vietnam.

Oxalis served as the project's logistics partner, mobilizing 150 personnel over a three-week period to support every aspect of the production, including permits, safety management, transportation, accommodation, and technical assistance in the field. The episode showcased the extraordinary landscapes and unique environments found within Vietnam’s cave systems, bringing these remarkable locations to audiences worldwide through one of the most influential documentary franchises ever produced.

In 2024, Extremes, the episode of Planet Earth III featuring Son Doong Cave, received 2 nominations at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards:

  • Outstanding Cinematography for a Nonfiction Program
  • Outstanding Music Composition for a Documentary Series or Special (Original Dramatic Score)

CBS News - 60 Minutes (2026)

In 2026, 60 Minutes, the flagship news program of CBS and one of the most respected television programs in American journalism, aired a special feature documenting the exploration of Son Doong Cave. From January 14 to 17, 2026, a nine-member production team led by producers Nicole Young and Jonathan Partridge, together with correspondent Scott Pelley, CBS camera and lighting crews, and renowned photographer Ryan Deboodt, conducted filming inside the cave.

The production was supported by Oxalis Adventure through a large-scale logistics operation involving 49 porters coordinated by Ho Khanh, 6 safety assistants, 2 safety specialists, and a dedicated expedition guide. Together, the team ensured that filming could be carried out safely within the cave’s challenging environment. The resulting feature captured both the adventure of exploring Son Doong and the outstanding values that make it the world's largest cave. Within two weeks of its broadcast, the program reached more than 8 million television viewers in the United States and generated over 50 million views across global social media platforms. Film production projects

The pristine forests, remote valleys, and spectacular cave systems of Central Vietnam have inspired filmmakers from around the world. From Hollywood and Bollywood productions to acclaimed Vietnamese films, each project has offered a different perspective on Vietnam’s natural landscapes through the lens of cinema. As a logistics partner, filming location facilitator, and on-site operations supporter, Oxalis has worked alongside numerous production teams in bringing some of Vietnam’s most remarkable natural settings to the big screen.

Pan (Warner Bros.) (2015)

In 2015, Warner Bros. Pictures released Pan, featuring the spectacular back entrance of Hang En Cave on the big screen. The project was the result of collaboration and negotiations between Oxalis and Warner Bros. that began in 2014. Oxalis managed the entire logistics operation and supported filming activities in Vietnam, ensuring the production team could safely work within the cave environment. Through Warner Bros.' international distribution network, the film introduced the beauty of Hang En Cave and Vietnam’s natural landscapes to audiences worldwide. Pan generated approximately USD 128.4 million in global box office revenue, helping bring the cave landscapes of Central Vietnam to millions of international viewers. Read more.

Kong: Skull Island (Legendary Pictures) (2017)

Drawing on our international network, Oxalis actively connected with the production team, provided location materials, and helped persuade director Jordan Vogt-Roberts to choose Vietnam as a filming destination. As the official logistics partner of Legendary Pictures, Oxalis spent nearly a year supporting location scouting and filming operations within the Tu Lan Cave System. The project required extensive coordination to facilitate access to remote filming locations while ensuring safety throughout the production process. The film achieved global box office revenue of USD 566.7 million. Its success helped introduce Vietnam’s landscapes to audiences around the world and further raised international awareness of the country as a travel destination. Read more.

The Immortal (Victor Vu) (2018)

The Tu Lan Cave System once again appeared on the big screen through The Immortal (Nguoi Bat Tu), directed by Victor Vu. Approximately 70% of the film’s principal scenes were filmed within the cave system, showcasing its dramatic landscapes and untouched natural beauty. Oxalis supported the production team throughout more than one month of filming, providing logistics services and implementing safety measures for cast and crew members working within the cave environment. Released on October 26, 2018, The Immortal combined elements of spirituality, fantasy, and history. The film is considered one of Victor Vu’s most notable projects and marked an important milestone as he explored a genre that was still relatively new to Vietnamese cinema at the time.

The Legend of Quan Tien (2020)

The wartime drama The Legend of Quan Tien selected the Tu Lan Cave System as one of its primary filming locations. The film's scenes set among pristine landscapes and distinctive cave formations continued to showcase the natural beauty of Central Vietnam on the big screen.

Rat Cave is the setting of the film The Legend of Quan Tien.

Silaa (Bollywood) (2025)

In 2025, Silaa became the first major Bollywood production to film at some of Central Vietnam’s most iconic natural landmarks, including Son Doong Cave, Hang En Cave, the Tu Lan Cave System, and Phong Nha Cave. The production also filmed scenes for its theme song at Blue Diamond Retreat, capturing the property's lush natural surroundings. Throughout the project, Oxalis was responsible for logistics coordination and safety management, ensuring the film crew could work safely within cave environments. The project expanded Vietnam’s presence in the South Asian market while further reinforcing the appeal of Vietnam’s cave systems to the international film industry. Read more.

Global digital platforms

Digital technology has created new ways to share stories about Vietnam’s natural heritage. Through collaborations with Google, Oxalis has helped introduce Son Doong, Phong Nha, and local cultural and natural values to international audiences through large-scale digital platforms.

Google Adventure (2019)

In the summer of 2019, Google Vietnam launched the Google Adventure project with the goal of promoting Vietnam through the influence of YouTube content creators. With support from Oxalis Adventure and local authorities in Central Vietnam, the project brought together six Vietnamese and international YouTubers with a combined audience of more than 10 million followers. Their journey took them to Quang Binh, Hoi An, and Da Nang.

On June 24, 2019, the group visited Chay Lap Farmstay, joined the Sunset Cruise experience, and explored the Tu Lan Cave System. Videos documenting their journey, local culture, and travel experiences attracted millions of views across digital platforms, helping introduce Quang Binh and Central Vietnam to a wider international audience.

Google Arts & Culture (2021)

After nearly two years of development, Google Arts & Culture officially launched the first phase of the Wonders of Vietnam project on January 21, 2021. The initiative was a collaboration between Google, Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the provinces of Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam, Oxalis Adventure, and photographer Tran Tuan Viet.

The project featured 35 online exhibitions and 1,369 images and videos available in multiple languages, allowing audiences around the world to explore Son Doong, Tu Lan, Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park, Hoi An Ancient Town, and Hue Royal Court Music through a digital platform.

Oxalis served as a project partner, supporting coordination efforts and contributing a collection of images and visual materials featuring Son Doong, Tu Lan, and Phong Nha. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the project became one of Vietnam’s largest digital tourism initiatives, helping inspire future travel while raising awareness of the country’s natural and cultural heritage.

Google Doodle (2022)

On April 14, 2022, Google featured Son Doong Cave on its homepage through a special Google Doodle, marking the 13th anniversary of the British Cave Research Association (BCRA)’s announcement recognizing Son Doong as the world’s largest natural cave on April 14, 2009.

The Doodle appeared in Vietnam and 18 other countries and territories, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Thailand, Mexico, Sweden, Greece, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile. It also linked directly to search results related to Son Doong Cave.

The project was implemented through a collaboration between Google, the Quang Binh Department of Tourism, and Oxalis Adventure. The campaign helped promote Son Doong, Quang Binh, and Vietnam’s tourism industry to international audiences during the post-pandemic recovery period. Read more.

Music and entertainment

Alan Walker - Alone, Pt. II (2019)

In 2019, Alan Walker selected Son Doong Cave and Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park as filming locations for the music video Alone, Pt. II. The spectacular landscapes featured throughout the video contributed to its distinctive visual appeal while introducing Vietnam’s natural beauty to audiences around the world. As of May 2026, the music video had accumulated approximately 473 million views globally, making it one of the most widely viewed international entertainment productions ever filmed in Vietnam. In addition to media projects, Oxalis has participated in a number of international promotion and partnership initiatives aimed at introducing the outstanding values of Phong Nha, Son Doong, and Vietnam’s tourism industry to international partners and communities. These programs have helped expand international connections while creating new opportunities to showcase Vietnam’s natural heritage on a broader stage.

Son Doong Expedition for International Ambassadors (2016)

In May 2016, Oxalis partnered with Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to organize a Son Doong expedition for ambassadors from Argentina, Sweden, Italy, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Czech Republic, together with U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Tom Malinowski. The expedition attracted significant international media attention and became an important platform for introducing Phong Nha, Quang Binh, and Vietnam to the global community.

Destination Vietnam Expo - Hollywood (2024)

From September 23 to 25, 2024, in Los Angeles, California, Oxalis Adventure partnered with Vietnam’s Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize the Destination Vietnam Expo in the United States. Under the theme "Vietnam - A New Filmmaking Frontier," the event introduced Vietnam’s potential to Hollywood directors, producers, and film industry professionals. At the event, Oxalis presented the Son Doong 360° VR experience and shared information about filming opportunities in Vietnam, helping connect international filmmakers with destinations across the country, including Quang Binh.
