“Love in Vietnam” - A Film Project Connecting Vietnam and India
“Love in Vietnam” is a joint film project between Vietnam and India, created to connect cultures and introduce Vietnam’s landscapes and people to the world. Through a gentle and romantic storyline, the film guides viewers across the S-shaped country, from green highlands to sunny beaches, from quiet rural villages to modern cities. Each scene captures Vietnam in a close, authentic, and very human way.
The film is directed and written by Rahhat Shah Kazmi, with Captain Rahul Bali as producer. The main creative team comes from India, working together with Vietnamese locations and actors to bring the story to life.
Before its release in Vietnam, “Love in Vietnam” had an impressive international start. The film was first released in India in early September 2025, then premiered in South Korea in December. At the Seoul Global Movie Awards, it won two major awards: Best Asian Film and Best Asian Director. After this successful journey, the film, known in Vietnamese as “Van dam yeu em”, is expected to be released in Vietnam on January 9, 2026.
From the beginning, “Love in Vietnam” was shaped not only as a romantic film, but also as a travel journey through Vietnam seen through cinema. The project received support from the Indian Consulate in Vietnam and the Vietnamese Consulate in India, helping to promote Vietnam’s culture, people, and tourism to international audiences.
As Vietnamese landscapes, daily life, and culture appear on the big screen of Indian cinema, the film invites viewers to imagine visiting these places in real life. With the wide reach of Indian cinema, films such as Love in Vietnam, alongside other Indian productions like Silaa - create new opportunities to introduce Vietnam to Indian travelers and film lovers around the world, inspiring more international visitors to explore the country.

A Love Story Along a Journey of Discovering Vietnam
Inspired by the romantic spirit of the classic novel Madonna in a Fur Coat, “Love in Vietnam” tells a love story that begins with a chance meeting but leaves a lasting impression. The film follows Manav, a young man from India who arrives in Vietnam due to circumstances beyond his control. In this unfamiliar land, he is drawn to Linh, a Vietnamese artist played by Kha Ngan, whose quiet beauty and emotional depth leave a strong mark on his heart.
From their first gentle connection, love slowly grows between two people from different cultures. This love is shaped and nurtured by the land of Vietnam itself. However, the arrival of Simmi, Manav’s childhood friend, changes the emotional path of the story. Three lives, three hearts, step into a journey full of challenges, where love, friendship, and personal choices begin to clash.
Throughout the film, Vietnam is more than just a setting. It appears as a “third character,” quietly witnessing and accompanying every emotional change. “Love in Vietnam” carries a message about love built on understanding and respect for cultural differences. When love faces different voices and traditions, can two hearts listen to each other and find a shared path forward?

The Beauty of Vietnam Through Cinematic Frames
Cinema has long been a “map of emotions,” guiding audiences to discover and travel to new places through each frame. In “Love in Vietnam,” most of the scenes were filmed in Vietnam, making up about 75% of the film’s total running time.
The main filming locations in Vietnam are in Lac Duong - Da Lat (Lam Dong Province). On screen, Da Lat appears romantic, where beautiful landscapes blend naturally with a passionate love story. It is a Da Lat that feels both familiar and refreshingly new through the cinematic lens, with iconic places such as Da Lat Railway Station, Dalat Palace Hotel, and Da Lat University.
The film also features scenes shot at Samten Hills, including moments at the foot of the Great Prayer Wheel Stupa and the Hand Bridge. Whether at soft sunset or in the early morning mist, Da Lat reveals a different charm in every moment, leaving a lasting impression on viewers.

Leaving the highlands behind, the film’s journey continues to Hanoi, Ha Long, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, and Hoi An (Quang Nam) - places rich in culture and local life. Here, the quiet charm of the old town, the lively rhythm of coastal cities, and the blend of tradition and modern life come together to create scenes that feel both familiar and cinematic.
The film also highlights the vast beauty of Vietnam’s coastline, especially in Phu Yen and Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), where the sea and sky stretch freely across the screen, adding a sense of space and freedom to the story.

Each destination shown on screen carries its own unique character, coming together to paint a beautiful image of Vietnam as a country full of tourism potential in the eyes of international audiences. Travelers can enjoy relaxing getaways in Da Lat, explore cultural and heritage tourism in Hanoi and Hoi An, or experience island and nature-based travel in Ha Long, Phu Yen, and Nha Trang.
In this way, each cinematic scene clearly reflects and defines the travel experiences visitors can discover when coming to Vietnam.
As a result, the film serves as a powerful tourism promotion, bringing the image of Vietnam closer to Indian and global audiences, and inspiring a strong desire to explore and experience the country in real life.
