Oxalis Foundation Sponsors For the Annual Open Water Swimming Classes for Children in Phong Nha & Tan Hoa, Quang Binh
Quang Binh Province is characterized by a high density of natural rivers and streams. During the hot summer months, coinciding with the school break, children frequently visit rivers and streams for recreation and swimming, posing a significant risk of water-related accidents.
Recognizing the significance of swimming skill education and water safety, Oxalis Adventure has fully funded summer swimming lessons for children in rural riverside areas of Phong Nha and Tan Hoa.

With a remarkable track record of success, the Oxalis Foundation has expanded its swimming lesson program in 2024. From 2019 to 2023, the program has empowered over 1,300 children with essential swimming skills, with a 100% success rate. This year, the foundation has allocated 500 million VND to communes in Bo Trach and Minh Hoa districts to organize swimming lessons for approximately 800-1,000 children in 8 communes along the Son and Rao Nan Rivers. The funding is derived from the Oxalis Foundation's revenue, primarily from selling Oxalis Gearshop products such as trekking clothing, accessories, and sandals, supplemented by a portion of Oxalis Adventure's profits.

To implement this program, the Oxalis Foundation has collaborated with local authorities to encourage parents to encourage their children to participate. The teaching team comprises highly qualified and experienced teachers certified by the Quang Binh Department of Culture and Sport. This not only helps communes organize swimming classes safely and effectively but also facilitates the development and sustainability of this activity in the long term. With their in-depth knowledge and effective communication skills, the teachers will help the children master and practice swimming skills confidently and safely. The remuneration for the teachers is 500,000 VND for each child who can swim at least 20 meters.
The swimming course will introduce safety rules and diverse swimming techniques, specifically including:
