US President Joe Biden Visits Vietnam: Positive Prospects for Tourism and Oxalis
On September 10th, 2023, US President Joe Biden visited Vietnam to promote cooperation between the two countries. Vietnam and the United States have established a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, demonstrating the importance of this relationship to both countries. This will benefit the Vietnamese economy as a whole, especially in the tourism sector.
In recent years, the number of US tourists visiting Vietnam has significantly increased and is showing signs of recovery after the pandemic. According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the number of US visitors to Vietnam in 2022 was nearly double that of 2021 (318,171 versus 172,706). In the first eight months of 2023, the number of US visitors to Vietnam has exceeded the number for the whole of 2022 by almost 1.6 times (502,906 versus 318,171), reaching as the same period in 2019.
Among international travel companies in Vietnam, Oxalis Adventure stands out with its nature discovery tours in Quang Binh. US visitors usually account for over 20% of Oxalis' customers and have been the top country participating in Oxalis tours for over 10 years. Currently, the number of US visitors to Oxalis tours is increasing significantly and is expected to triple in 2023 compared to 2022. Oxalis' outstanding tours that US visitors love include Tu Lan Adventure, Hang Tien Exploration, Hang Va Expedition, Hang En Adventure, and especially Son Doong Expedition. Additionally, other unique experience services are also loved by US visitors, such as staying at Chay Lap Farmstay or experiencing rustic local life in Tan Hoa Village.
Not only are Oxalis' tours loved by tourists, but they have also garnered interest and promotion from US politicians. US Assistant Secretary of State Tom Malinowski not only explored Son Doong Cave once but conducted a second expedition to Son Doong. Former US Ambassador to Vietnam Ted Osius also had the opportunity to explore Son Doong Cave and left deep impressions. Former US President Barack Obama also expressed his intention to visit Son Doong Cave during his visit to Vietnam while still in office.
US President Joe Biden's visit is expected to bring many positive opportunities for Vietnam's tourism industry in the future. Especially with the interest in nature discovery tours like Oxalis', we expect more US tourists to come to Vietnam and participate in Oxalis' tours in the near future.
